[Discussion] For all Obese and Plus-size People looking for ways to Lose Weight. I hope My Story Works for You!
I’m 30 and living in a beautiful city in Florida. I love working and at times even forget about partying with friends. I love spending time in my own space and writing my stories online. By profession, I am a writer and work in a reputed company. Life is great and moving at pace. The only wrong is my look. I am a lazy schlub, 260lbs and 5 feet 9 inches tall. Maybe this is why I cut off from my friends. But I can’t fully blame them. Even I want to look slim and fit into some of the skinny expensive dresses. I realized since the past 1.5 years I have been continuously gaining weight. The reason is no physical activity and a lot of fatty food. I can even blame COVID-19 for this but, to be honest, I realized it is more of me than any other thing or condition. My friends used to work as an alarm call for me on a few occasions, but I never gave it much importance until I met someone. Call it a ray of hope or the reason I wanted to come out of my comfort zone. I pushed myself to work on my look (weight).
I listed what all I
need to do to lose on some extra kgs and re-live the exciting life. I
recollected my old experiences as to why I never bothered thinking about the
extra weight. And the answer was the negative statements and comments,
addiction to fatty food, the trauma of my abusive relationship, stress, and
more. I decided to talk with people who were overweight and physically as well
as mentally inactive. To my surprise, I found a group of people who even in
their 40s and 50s made efforts to look extremely beautiful. They were
encouraging and supportive.
I even looked up
online programs that could cost good money for losing weight in a week or so. I
learned about CPAP machines and expenses. I penned down each and everything
that could help me in getting better. There were many case-studies and live
experiences of people who had gained a lot of weight during COVID-19. I
realized with time that I was more on the fast-food diet and moving in the
wrong direction.
I researched
some of the websites that gave tips on a healthy lifestyle and how to
overcome health conditions. In the process of getting over this weight issue, I
got to know about other health issues I was going through - indigestion, acid reflux,
and (undiagnosed) GERD. All my attempt was in a way uplifting me, but at the
same time, I couldn’t sleep at night learning about my condition and how much I
ignored it. I even felt that working on this will take a lot of time, and so I
gave up on it. But very soon, I realized I was not able to get over the
inspiring stories. So, to overcome the stress of health and start with losing
some weight, I booked the Naturopathy Counseling Session. The naturopath
doctors discussed my condition, history, way of living, and much more. At
first, it felt that they were more interested in my lifestyle than my health.
But later, when they started talking about my condition and what are the
reasons that are affecting my health and indirectly affecting my weight gain, I
realized I took the right turn. They were analyzing my lifestyle and shared one
step at a time to keep me in the loop and motivated by keeping my stress issues
low.
I frequently
communicated with the experts and started following naturopathy diet plans as recommended by the naturopath. I even
searched for some of the experts on healthy food and cooked healthy recipes.
This was the beginning of something better.
The naturopath not
only guided me over diet therapy but also shared the benefits and importance of fasting in our life. We often ignore fasting and
consider it of no importance. But the fact, fasting is essential as it helps
your body to eliminate the toxins created in the body. It helps your body
re-energize itself and start fresh every time. With each passing day, I
realized healthy food not only keeps you fit but also creates endorphins and
positivity around you. I started practicing yoga, taking breaks from work and
walking. I forced myself to involve in physical activities at the beginning,
but now I enjoy cutting from work and indulging in other activities like Yoga,
cooking new recipes, and more.
For all plus-size
people, I have something to say, “We all deserve good in life. Overweight is
not something you can’t fix. It is just the laziness or the awkwardness that
pulls you back. Get out of that bed zone and walk for yourself. Start with
self-care. Don’t listen to what people say every time. Make them speak good for
you by your actions, dressing, behavior, and style” I am living now! Connecting
with my old mates and partying because it is necessary to stay connected. The
best part is I hear good now. Coming back to the guy I wanted to connect with
is nice, and I guess there are chances.
Running away from
the little things is always an easy road, and one may find many. Let’s choose
the hard one and give it a try. Pandemic is something that’s not good but, I am
happy that the closed rooms still gave me reasons to smile and live life positively.
I run 3 miles every
morning, practice some natural home remedies for my diet, exercise,
and communicate more about my stress with the family and friends. I have lost
50lbs since mid-July and enjoying every moment.
I have not
restricted myself to a strict healthy diet. I eat desserts and snacks in a
month to keep the stress away. But I also follow the plans recommended. Fruits
are also a great source of ingredient for good health. So, that was my story of
losing weight, balancing mental health, and overcoming laziness. I hope my
story connects with you and can help cross the bridges of your life.
